Permission to Play or Perform "Before You Go" to a Group
We greatly appreciate your support in helping us to spread Dr. Sam's and John Melnick's message of thanks to our veterans.
You can feel free to play "Before You Go" from our CD or DVD for your event, or perform the song.
Thank you for helping us spread the word about "Before You Go". With your help we can spread our message as far and wide as possible.
- We ask only that authorship (Lyrics by Sam Bierstock, MD, Music by John Melnick), and the website www.beforeyougo.us be referenced in any introductory remarks or printed materials so that your audience can help us to be sure that our message can be spread.
- We are required to tell you that we do not permit any reproduction of the music or lyrics of Before You Go on any recorded medium or sale of copies without written licensing which would constitute an intentional violation of our copyright protection. If you wish to record it in any form, a licensing agreement will be required. Contact us if you require such an agreement. We also do not permit uploading of the files from our server or transmitting the music itself or lyrics to any third parties via the Internet, satellite or by other electronic means.
- Where applicable, all venues with responsibility for reporting performances of musical works to ASCAP are asked to do so.
The second track of both the CD and DVD contains a music-only version for sing along. The pictures are the same on both the CD and DVD and are used by projection at many venues on large screens, and by Dr. Sam and John Melnick during performances. If you would like to purchase sheet music, email your request to John Melnick. We do not sell the sheet music in our store. Lyrics however, can be purchased and downloaded from our online store.
While Dr. Sam and John Melnick own 100% rights to the music and lyrics of Before You Go., we cannot provide copyright release on all of the photos in the presentation since we do not have that authority.
Permission to Play or Perform "Before You Go" on Radio & TV

Any broadcast performance of "Before You Go" on radio or television must be reported to ASCAP. Could you please inform us of the television & radio stations where it will be played, their affiliates, the dates and number of times played. Please send us all station call letters and locations if possible for our records. Digital transmissions should be reported to SoundExchange.

Reproducing "Before You Go" on your own DVD, CD or any recorded medium
We have made "Before You Go" available in its entirety on the Internet in order for its message to spread and reach every one of our aging veterans and their families. Dr. Sam Bierstock and John Melnick own 100% of the music and lyrics to the song, and our policy is to adhere to copyright law with respect to it's reproduction on any recorded media. You are free to play "Before You Go" to any group or gathering from our CD or DVD (see FAQ on showing "Before You Go" to a group) but we are UNABLE TO OFFER PRO BONO permission for reproduction or recording of the music or lyrics in any fashion on any recorded digital or analogue medium without written licensing. Both synchronization and mechanical licenses may be requested at info@managedmusic.com. The use of the song in any form on any medium for subsequent commercial use or sale is not permitted without appropriate licensing. Licensing represents permission to record the lyrics and music only, and not any visual images. In view of the number of requests that we receive to make personalized DVDs with personally owned images displayed with "Before You Go" playing in the background, we offer the ability to do so online on our website on our "Create You Own Video" page. They may not be reproduced on any recorded medium in any form or used to accompany a visual presentation in any form without appropriate licensing and the written agreement of the owners and authors. Violations will be prosecuted.
